Azhan's Usability and Design Reviews

Design, Usability, Template, and Product Reviews

I was looking for the most usable portable stroller, pram or pushchair for months. All of the strollers I found has some kind of disadvantage. Either they are not really portable as it should i.e bulky, it does not recline fully to flat position, tipped over easily, etc.

Baby Jogger City Mini Single I found is one that stands out above the rest. I checked around and found that almost all user feedbacks about this baby product is highly positive and rated above 4/5 on average. This is the best rated stroller you can find on any site. Read the rest of this entry »

  • I have been using the Illacrimo theme for this Wordpress blog. It is a very nice looking and clean template by Lifespy. However, since I am now using Wordpress version 2.7, this theme seems old because it does not reflect the changes and updates that version 2.7 has to offer.

I am thinking if a few things can be fixed so the theme can be reflecting changes by Wordpress 2.7, this would be a perfect theme 3-column blue layout template. Things that can be change includes:

    • threading for comments which will make this theme look so much better.
    • sticky post can be highlighted at the top of the page

If anybody has seen an Illacrimo theme for Wordpress 2.7 or better yet a downloadable one, please let me know.

  • I have been using the Smashing theme for one of my other Wordpress blog. It is a very nice looking and clean template by Design Disease. However, since I am now using Wordpress version 2.7, I want this theme to reflect the changes and updates that version 2.7 has to offer.

I am thinking the fixed Smashing theme reflecting  changes by Wordpress 2.7 may include:

    • threading for comments which will make this theme look so much better.
    • fixing of the gravatar icons which is currently broken and not displayed
    • sticky post can be highlighted at the top of the page

If anybody has seen a Smashing theme for Wordpress 2.7 or better yet a downloadable one, please let me know.

Last time I did a review about ICDsoft and how they have almost no complaint about their service when I looked at the search engine result pages (SERPs). Recently, somebody pointed out a much worst web hosting company. Pronethosting.net sucks bad as they don’t have any bad reviews about them when I searched for Pronethosting sucks”. Pronethosting is bad because they are cheaper than ICDsoft! Even cheaper (for the first year) than most other web hosting companies I have seen so far. Bad for their competitors is what I meant.

Hostingsthatsuck.com showed that the SERPs are the same with “pronethostings sucks”, “pronet hosting sucks”, “Pronet host sucks”, “Pronethosting sux” and other variation of misspells. Read the rest of this entry »

Last time I did a review about ICDsoft and how they have almost no complaint about their service when I look at the search engine result pages (SERP). Recently, somebody pointed out a much worst web hosting company. Just Host sucks bad as they don’t have any bad reviews about them when I searched for just host sucks”. They are worst because they have packages that beats ICDsoft! Worst for their competitors is what I meant. Justhost.com offer unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email, unlimited MySQL, and host unlimited domains. Unbelievable.

  • GoDaddy Hosting vs Hostgator

Here is one crazy statistics when looking at which web hosting (email hosting or whatever other hosting requiring to use their servers), GoDaddy Hosting got 30% hate pages dedicated for them in Google result pages.

    Hosting X Total Pages
    About Host X
    Total Hate Pages
    About X
    Hate/Pages Ratio
    Hostgator 2,100,000 28,000 1 %
    Godaddy Hosting 691,00 204,000 30 %

Time to switch to other reliable hosting such as Hostgator?

Read more about Hostgator at http://reviews.azhan.com/web-hosting/15/best-hosting-review-hostgator-sucks.html

The above fact is also the reason why you should have your website hosted by a company other than your domain registrar. A company can only do only one thing well. If they host, they cannot register domains. If they can register cheap domains, they most probably cannot host your web pages reliably.

So who is your daddy now? My suggestion is to switch to Hostgator and pay a penny by using the coupon code HGC25. If you find Hostgator also aren’t for you, just cancel and you don’t have any troubles of trying to get your money back.  Atleast, most pages in Google says they are way better than your GoDaddy hosting.

  • Eat My Review: Host Gator Sucks

Heard they giving problems? Some say Hostgator scams? Can these negative reviews be trusted? Looking for Hostgator issues? Heard some stories about their limitations? READ THIS FIRST!

If you are considering to get a hosting account from Hostgator, you may want to (or probably have tried) searching for the keywords “Hostgator Sucks” on Google. However, the result may confuse you. Perhaps you have read tons of good stuff and rave reviews about Hostgator thus far.

Hostgator experiences and stories like below may make you think twice to signup with Hostgator:

“i left GODADDY and went to HG… 3 months and my site was never up!”

“My saga with them began when they took down one of my websites I had hosted with them back in November 2006 without notice because they claimed my site used 11% of the CPU. ”

“I gave up on Hostgator a while ago, and I thought I’d cancelled my account until I noticed they were still charging me… “

  • Battling to choose between Hostgator or ICD Soft? Comparing hostings to host your next website? Considering Hostgator vs others? How good is Hostgator hosting compared to other hostings? In my previous post on Hostgator and Hostmonster Sucks, but ICDsoft is Okay, I mentioned about the alternative method to find the best hosting for your personal blog or business. However, I over simplify the analysis by just looking at the first ”search engine result page”.

You can read the post at: http://reviews.azhan.com/usability/13/hostgator-and-hostmonster-sucks-but-icdsoft-is-okay.html

If you search for “ICD Soft Hosting Sucks” on Google, the first result pages will show only good reviews, despite the keywords that we use. Basically,  0/10 pages listed will say bad things about ICDsoft. On the other hand, doing a “Host Gator Hosting Sucks” search on Google will return 9/10 hate-pages about Hostgator and only 1 good (or neutral page) review page.

Does that mean Hostgator should be avoided totally? Not yet. I over simplified my analysis to not look at the big picture. I did not look at the total pages that talks about both hostings on the internet. Hostgator has 10 times more pages on Google thus probably has bigger volume of complaints too.

    Hosting X Total result pages
    about Hosting X
    Number of
    Hate Pages
    Hate Ratio
    Hostgator 2440 28 1.14
    ICDsoft 208 0.5 0.24

The numbers above are in “thousands”.

From the above analysis, the ratio of hate pages for every result page indexed by Google still says that there are less complains about ICDsoft than Hostgator. So the choice now is more obvious, ICDsoft is better than Hostgator.

But people say Hostgator is the best web hosting

Still convince that you should atleast try Hostgator? Here is a way to try hostgator to see if it really fits your needs and can live up to its expectation. Yes it is NO RISK trial (well maybe a penny). Use Coupon Code – HGC25 now and Try Hostgator For Only $0.01

In a previous post on “ICD Soft Hosting Sucks“, I explained an alternative way to choose a web hosting for your blog or business is to look for a provider that don’t suck, literally. You can find out by doing a Google search for the “hosting company” + “sucks” keywords.

From my observation, doing a search for “Hosting X sucks” or ”Hosting X problems” (replace X with any hosting company) on a search engine for every host X you are eyeing for, can be extremely helpful. I ignored this method and once tried to use this hosting called Lypha Hosting. They were cheap those days with unlimited storage and bandwidth, coupled with few good reviews here and there over the internet. However, it was a total flop for me. Bad customer service and poor bandwidth made me stay for only a few days with them.

Here is a sample of the results when we do a “Hosting X Sucks” search:

Web Hosting Search Keywords Total Results
    Hostgator Hostgator Sucks about 3,930
Host Monster Host Monster Sucks about 185
ICD Soft ICD Host Sucks almost none

Note: The hate/suck SERP pages are based on Google search by Web Hosting Sucks Reviews (HostingsThatSuck.com) on past dates (not current).

Most other big hosting company reviews including Godaddy, Host Gator reviews, Host monster reviews etc have some kind hate-sites or hate-pages dedicated to them by some unhappy customers. Surprisingly, one hosting company called ICDsoft doesn’t have any hate site dedicated to it! Sorry ICDsoft! I hate you ICDsoft, for being too good. Just kidding.

I searched for “icdsoft sucks” on Google. I also tried “icdsoft problem”, “icd soft sucks”, “icdsof sucks”, “icd sucks”, “icd soft sux” and other variation of misspells, just incase some smarter people cannot even spell the host name right or try to avoid being sued by ICDsoft. Sorry still none.

Today I have been with ICDsoft for 5 years and had 7 accounts with them. I also have 3 other hosting providers that I currently use. To be honest, ICDsoft is the cheapest and has answered my support tickets at the fastest time. You don’t need those discount coupons – they are already discounted – and you get more discount with more accounts you have with them. No need of coupon code or discount voucher.

Read more about my review on ICDSoft at http://reviews.azhan.com/web-hosting/10/icdsoft-hosting-sucks.html

    Web hosting by ICDSoft
Does that mean the hostings that “suck” like Hostgator and Hostmonster should be avoided? They have they advantages and find out what the numbers tell you. Read our reviews about them: Host Gator Complaints and Host Monster Problems. They cost more but offer better disk space, super huge bandwidth, unlimited domain hosting and more emails.

I try not to be biased when I do reviews so I will offer you a challenge. Find a better hosting than what I just recommended (ICDsoft). Go search for some other hostings with no “X sucks” pages on Google, and post them down here in the comment box. Better yet, try find such a hosting company with the same criteria as ICDSoft but with cheaper monthly hosting price (my hosting package at ICDsoft is at about $6 per month but you can get cheaper for about $3.60/month by using ICDsoft promotional link below). If you do find it, please post a comment here and we all may learn something new everyday about choosing a hosting for our websites.
